Advanced Process Control

E-mail Print PDF

We offer to the Chemical, Petrochemical and Refining industries a full range of process control delivery services, from project management to controller design, analysis of regulatory controls, plant testing, modeling, controller configuration, commissioning, inferential property estimation and SPYRO™ furnace modeling.

Advanced Process Control (APC) describes a solution practice which draws elements from many disciplines ranging from control engineering, signal processing, statistics, decision theory and artificial intelligence, all applied typically on top of a basic DCS (Distributed Control System) in order to improve the speed and accuracy of controlling a process, through reduced variability and increased predictability.

Once this reduced variability and increased predictability is achieved, the operators have the opportunity to optimise the process by moving its operational setting closer to its constraints, where typically the performance is higher, as shown in this chart. Advanced Process Control Optimisation

Associated terms or variations of APC are MPC (Model Predictive Control) or SPC (Statistical Process Control).

Our APC services include:

  • Basic Regulatory Evaluation Studies
  • DCS Layer Evaluation Study
  • Advanced Process Control Front-End Engineering and Design (APC FEED) Studies
  • Advanced Process Control Implementation

We have the ability to deliver world class multi-variable controller implementations on several technology platforms.
