Owner’s Engineer Services for the Chilca Plus Project of EnerSur, Peru

(Jun 2015) Hyperion Power Services (HPS) is pleased to announce that it will provide Owner’s Engineer Services for the Chilca Plus Project of EnerSur in Peru. The experienced team of HPS will fully address all services requested by EnerSur for Design Review, Factory Test and Inspection of major equipment in several countries around the world, and Technical Support to Site Supervision. For the purposes of this project, HPS has teamed with another “boutique” Owner’s Engineer services provider The Energy Corporation (TEC) located in Denver Colorado. HPS will be subcontracting some of the EnerSur requested services to TEC. The EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) company selected by EnerSur, is Duro Felguera of Gijon, Spain, who in turn selected IDOM Engineering of Bilbao Spain, to perform the detailed design.

EnerSur S.A. generates, transmits, and sells electricity in Peru for both domestic and business use. The company generates electricity from various sources, such as water, natural gas, oil, and coal. It operates five power plants with a total installed capacity of 1,820 megawatts, as well as 274.28 kilometers of transmission lines. EnerSur is Peru’s second largest private power generator, and the third overall (including the public sector). The company, which was founded in 1996, is based in San Isidro, Lima, Peru and is a subsidiary of GDF Suez. The Chilca Plus Project of EnerSur is for the expansion of the Central thermoelectric Chilca one to the South of Lima. The project consists of the construction and operation of an open cycle gas turbine and a steam turbine in combined cycle with rated power generation joint of approximately 112.8 megawatts (MW). The beginning of the commercial operation of the referred turbines is estimated for 2016.
