(Feb 2020) Hyperion Power Services was engaged by OPC Energy to perform a thorough evaluation of the thermal cycle of the Rotem plant to investigate excessive loss of power output at high to temperatures.

In these types of engagements, HPS typically performs a Thermal Cycle Analysis simulating the operation of the power plant, using a state-of-the-art computer tools, and then validates the model by actual plant data to duplicate specific drops in output with increasing temperature.  We then use the results to perform a cost/benefit study of the various possible solutions that can remedy the situation and present those to the customer. Once the customer decides the desired course of action, Hyperion Power Services remain on their side to project manage the implementation.

Incorporated in 2010, OPC Energy is the first private electricity company in Israel and is active in the field of power generation and supply, including development, construction, and operation of power plants, as well as power generation and supply to private customers and to Israel Electricity Corporation (IEC).  The Rotem Power plant, situated at the Negev desert, began commercial operations in July 2013. It uses combined cycle power plant technology and is a two‑fuel plant (natural gas with diesel oil as backup), with an installed capacity of 466 MW. Rotem was built by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Services (MHPS) and the main equipment at the plant is manufactured by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). Rotem meets the most stringent environmental standards.
