HyperionRSI Simulation concludes with success a two-year OTS program at Petro Rabigh.

(April 2019) HyperionRSI Simulation (HRS) has successfully conducted the Site Acceptance Test of the Metathesis Unit OTS project, at the Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co. (Petro Rabigh or PRC).  The Metathesis Unit OTS was the latest part of an ambitious OTS program which began in 2017 and has so far included the delivery of six (6) OTS solutions. 

All six solutions provided under the program involve emulated, custom, high fidelity Operator Training Simulators based on the state-of-the-art IndissPlus dynamic simulation platform by Corys. The OTS systems are covered by a 5-year maintenance contract and in this context, HRS has already began to provide support to Petro Rabigh and has also delivered a refresher Instructor Training course.

Petro Rabigh is a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical of Japan. It was founded in 2005 and in 2008 it was partly floated on the Saudi Stock Exchange. Phase I of the PRC plant converts crude oil and gas resources into high demand, high value petrochemicals that form the basis of modern everyday products. Phase II of the plant became fully operational in 2018 and aims to offer an even more diversified product slate of new high added value petrochemical products. Petro Rabigh, currently employs around 3,500 people – the vast majority being Saudi citizens.

The successful results of this OTS program were jointly presented by HRS and Petrorabigh at the bi-annual SimTech conference held in Grenoble, France, in March 2019.  During the event, Petro Rabigh received an award by Corys in recognition of their contribution to the OTS market.
